I learn in a similar way. I seem to learn more by working on a task—whether that is coding or writing about something I have coded—than I do through other mediums of learning.
I'm excited to see what you come up with (maybe you'll even post some insights on your blog?). I done some similar tasks with my blog earlier this year and found the results really interesting.
